Job summary

Quanta-Services' QISG unit seeks a Design Engineer I to support overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.

You will use AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS and other CAD tools, implement redlines, and ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC while collaborating with engineers.

Travel up to 10% may be required; a bachelor’s in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Eng (ABET) is expected, with strong drafting skills and detail orientation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS.
• Familiar with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Support overhead transmission line design including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations.
• Utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, and other CAD software for scaled drawings and mapping.
• Implement engineering redlines with precision and ensure draft/drawing accuracy.
• Conduct engineering calculations including voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker analysis, and pole loading assessments.
• Prepare joint utility use authorizations based on field data and engineer redlines.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC).
• Work with engineers to develop solutions and modifications as needed.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and support engineering calculations.
