Job summary

QISG, part of Quanta Services, seeks a Design Engineer I to support overhead transmission line design, using PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation and ArcGIS. You will work on routing, structure analysis, and loading trees, ensuring safety and quality in designs for high‑voltage infrastructure.

The role requires a ABET‑accredited engineering degree, CAD proficiency, and readiness to travel up to 10%. Join a team delivering reliable power system solutions with rigorous standards.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in civil/structural or mechanical engineering.
• Familiar with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS.
• Knowledge of design codes (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC).
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Support all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design including PLS-CADD modeling and line routing.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS and other CAD software for scaled drawings and mapping.
• Implement engineering redlines with precision before finalizing drafting/drawing.
• Conduct calculations including voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker analysis, and pole loading assessments.
• Prepare joint utility use authorizations from field data and redlines.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and design standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC).
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop solutions and modifications.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and support engineering calculations.
• Work 40 hours per week, up to 50 hours with possible overtime.
