Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Design Engineer I to contribute to design-build and design-assist projects across healthcare, education, biotech, and commercial sectors. You will work with model coordinators, estimators, and field staff to produce practical and cost-effective designs, leveraging VDC and CFD tooling.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of HVAC/plumbing design concepts.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with CADD and Microsoft Office tools.
• PE license preferred; formal degree required.

Responsibilities

• Produce basic HVAC design calculations, drawings, and specs under supervision.
• Perform preliminary sizing and calculations (loads, equipment) for projects.
• Coordinate with project management, architects, and trades through design phases.
• Create and check CADD drawings and accompanying documentation.
