Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Design Engineer I to contribute to HVAC design-build and design-assist projects across healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment markets. You’ll collaborate with model coordinators, estimators, and trade staff to create practical, efficient, and cost-effective designs, leveraging VDC and CFD tools for just-in-time feedback from the field.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of HVAC/plumbing design.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communications skills.
• Proficiency with CADD and MS Office (Excel).
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic deliverables like calculations, drawings, and specifications for HVAC systems under supervision of Senior Engineers.
• Performs basic calculations for loads, equipment sizing, and friction loss.
• Assist in coordinating project design with management, architects, and other trades through completion.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
