Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Design Engineer I to contribute to design-build and design-assist projects across healthcare, education, biotech and other markets. You will work with model coordinators, estimators, and field staff to create practical, cost-efficient designs and participate in VDC and CFD processes.

The role requires a four-year engineering degree; PE license is preferred. This is a 100% employee-owned company with competitive benefits and growth opportunities across locations.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of HVAC and plumbing design.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in CADD and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic deliverables such as calculations, drawings, and specifications for HVAC systems under supervision.
• Performs basic calculations (loads, equipment sizing, friction loss).
• Assist in coordinating project design with management, architects, and trades.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
