Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Design Engineer I to contribute to design-build and design-assist projects across healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment markets. You will collaborate with model coordinators, estimators and field teams to deliver practical, efficient, and cost-effective designs.

The role offers exposure to VDC and CFD techniques with on-going feedback from the field.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of HVAC/plumbing system design.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with CADD and Microsoft Office (Excel).
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic deliverables and products such as calculations, drawings, and specifications for HVAC systems under supervision.
• Performs basic calculations for projects (loads, equipment sizing, friction loss).
• Assist in coordinating design with project management, architects, and other trades.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
