Job summary

Axis is seeking a Derrick Hand for its Odessa, TX facility. You will join a 4–5 person crew, performing elevated work on the derrick, maintaining rig components, and supporting other rig functions while adhering to safety programs.

This role requires 12-hour shifts on a 14/7 rotation and travel up to 75%. A valid driver license is required; CDL A/B preferred. Preference for local candidates within 60 miles of Odessa.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Derrick hand experience; 2+ years on workover rig floor.
• Valid state driver license with acceptable MVR; CDL Class A or B preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Willing to work a rotational field schedule and travel as needed.
• Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol testing and job-relevant post-offer evaluations.
• Able to work outdoors in field environments and wear PPE; lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist operator in rigging up and down; line up the well.
• Perform elevated work on rigging up/down (remove horse head).
• Move rods and tubing between racks and the elevator.
• Assist in handling tubing and rods on the floor.
• Set hydraulic jacks and assist in attaching guy wires.
• Report safety hazards to the Tool Pusher/Field Supervisor and follow safety programs.
• May drive the crew truck as needed; maintain a valid state driver license.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
