Job summary

Axis is seeking a Derrick Hand to join a 4–5 person workover rig crew. The role requires climbing to 50 feet+, performing maintenance on derrick structures, and assisting with rigging and servicing operations while following safety programs.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year derrick hand experience, 2+ years on workover rigs, and a valid driver license. This is a full-time field position with travel and rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent.
• Must have a valid state issued driver license with acceptable MVR; CDL Class A or B preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of Derrick hand experience; at least 2 years of workover rig floor experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Willingness to work a rotational field schedule and travel as needed.
• Must climb ladders to elevated work areas up to 50 feet+ with fall protection.
• Completion of required working-at-heights/fall protection training and related retraining as needed.
• Ability to work outdoors in field environments with PPE and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist operator in rigging up and down, lining up the rig with the well and servicing the well.
• Handle elevated work related to rigging up/down (e.g., removing horse head).
• Move rods and tubing between vertical racks and elevator on the rod basket and tubing board.
• Manually lift tubing from racks to floor and vice versa.
• Set hydraulic jacks and attach guy wires to anchors; assist with rig components.
• Walk rods during laying down operations and report safety hazards to supervision.
• Follow Axis policies and customer safety programs; perform duties safely.
• May drive the crew truck as needed and maintain a valid state driver license.
