Job summary

Axis is seeking a Derrick Hand to join a 4–5 person workover rig crew. Responsibilities include elevated work on the derrick, tubing board, and rod basket, with routine maintenance and safety procedures.

The role requires climbing ladders to 50 feet, wearing fall protection, and operating rig tools in outdoor field environments on 12-hour shifts. CDL preferred and pre-employment drug testing applies.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid state driver license with acceptable MVR; CDL Class A or B preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of Derrick hand experience; at least 2 years of workover rig floor experience.
• Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
• Willingness to work a rotational field schedule and travel as needed.
• Must complete fall protection and heights training before elevated work.
• Work safely outdoors with required PPE on oil/gas sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist operator in rigging up and down, and align the rig with the well.
• Handle all elevated work on the derrick, tubing board and rod basket.
• Transfer rods/tubing from racks to the elevator and operate related gear.
• Assist in lifting tubing and positioning heavy components.
• Set hydraulic jacks and attach guy wires as needed.
• Report safety hazards to the supervisor and follow Axis procedures.
• Possibly drive the crew truck and perform other duties as assigned.
