Job summary

Axis Energy Services, LLC. seeks a Derrick Hand to join a 4–5 person workover rig crew. You will work on the derrick, tubing board and rod basket, and may perform routine maintenance on the derrick structure or components.

You’ll report to the Tool Pusher/Field Supervisor or Rig Operator and could drive the crew truck as needed. Essential duties include rigging up/down, operating tubing elevators, transferring rods/tubing, and lifting heavy equipment with safety in mind.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable MVR; CDL preferred.
• 1 year Derrick hand experience; 2 years workover rig floor experience.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Able to clear pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Assist the operator in rigging up and down, and servicing the well.
• Responsible for elevated work during rigging and maintenance on the derrick.
• Handle rod basket and tubing board tasks and transfer rods/tubing.
• Operate tubing elevators for standing tubing in derrick.
• Assist in lifting and moving tubing from racks to the floor and vice versa.
• Set hydraulic jacks, attach guy wires to anchors, and assist in other tasks.
• Report safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervision.
• May drive the crew truck as needed with an active state driver license.
