Job summary

Dental Associates of Connecticut is seeking a licensed Dental Hygienist to join a comprehensive, patient-centered practice. You will perform prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, fluoride applications, and sealants within a collaborative team focused on high-quality care in Connecticut.

You will educate patients on oral hygiene, document histories, and assist with radiographs per ADA guidelines, supporting a comfortable, welcoming environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in dental hygiene from an accredited program.
• Valid Connecticut RDH license to practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform dental hygiene services and procedures including prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, fluoride and sealants.
• Detect disease via oral cancer screening; examine gums; assess recession.
• Select materials and equipment for hygiene visits by evaluating oral health.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and postoperative care instructions.
• Document hygiene services by recording vital signs and histories.
• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure instruments are sterile.
• Breakdown of treatment rooms and ensure instruments are returned for sterilization.
• Take x-rays as necessary and per ADA recommendations.

Specific Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, application of fluoride and sealants
• Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession
• Selection of materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health
• Educate patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions
• Document dental hygiene services by recording vital signs, medical and dental histories, and charting in patient charts
• Preparation of treatment rooms, ensuring instruments and equipment are sterile
• Breakdown of treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments are returned for sterilization promptly
• Take x-rays as necessary and as recommended by the ADA

Requirements

• Valid license to practice in Connecticut (Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH)
