Description

Position Summary

The Dental Assistant works as part of the dental office team performing clinical and clerical duties to prepare patients for visits and to make reappointments when necessary. Responsibilities include answering phones, preparing charts, and gathering patient information.

Essential Duties

• Greet patients
• Assist the dentist with patient care
• Maintain patient confidentiality and provide necessary information
• Perform duties required by the Dentist to meet primary health care goals
• Prepare operatory and instruments for routine procedures
• Anticipate dentist's needs during procedures
• Ensure safe radiation practices and expose diagnostic radiographs with at least 90% accuracy
• Demonstrate proper sterilization procedures and testing
• Prepare dental operatory at start and end of day, disinfect between patients
• Manage scheduling and maintain accurate records and forms
• Assist patients with paperwork and enter data into electronic records
• Manage inventory and supplies efficiently

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited dental assisting program and/or DANB certification preferred
• Radiography and coronal polishing certifications preferred
• Basic Life Support certification
• Prior dental office experience preferred
• High energy, positive attitude, dedication to quality
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently and under pressure
