Job summary

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of retail experience and at least 1 year of management experience, plus strong communication and problem-solving skills. This is a full-time, on-site position with Meijer Rewards and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments across deli, meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience helpful.
• Ability to communicate clearly and provide direction.
• Ability to resolve conflict and analyze root causes to inform decisions.
• Ability to lead and mentor hourly staff and SDITs.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentors and coaches team members to meet service and sales goals.
• Manages staffing, selection and hiring to meet needs.
• Promotes succession planning and development opportunities.
• Maintains store appearance and Meijer standards.
• Responsible for P&L and controlling shrink in the department.
• Delivers courteous, efficient customer service and trains staff accordingly.
• Ensures safe work environment and adheres to safety policies.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and with staff.
