Job summary

Meijer Inc. is actively seeking a store leadership professional to oversee day-to-day operations across store departments. You will direct staffing, train teams, and drive sales while upholding company standards and a strong customer focus.

With at least 1 year of management experience and 2–3 years in retail, you will mentor staff, implement service strategies, and ensure a safe, well-presented store environment. This full-time, in-store role offers growth opportunities and competitive rewards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across the organization.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day operations within various departments of the store.
• Serves as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Implements strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs.
• Maintains store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development needs for team members.
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Mentors and coaches the team to exceed sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensures the team is trained and has completed required training.
• Spends majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
