Responsibilities

As a Deli Clerk, you will help customers make healthy food choices by preparing "fresh and easy meals" and providing excellent customer service. Your tasks include arranging vegetables or sliced meats for made-to-order sandwiches, assisting with catering orders, and sharing your knowledge of meats, cheeses, and other deli items. Food safety knowledge is essential to maintain our high standards. The role offers growth opportunities to learn about products, equipment, and customer service. We are looking for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

To be a Deli Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, and have experience in grocery, restaurant, or related fields, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Be dependable and reliable.
• Display an outgoing, friendly attitude and positive behavior, with strong customer interaction skills.
• Be flexible to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Be capable of answering phones and taking special orders.
• Lift/carry products weighing up to 70 lbs. over a distance of up to 20 feet, without mechanical assistance, for up to 4 hours.
• Stand for up to 4 hours continuously, totaling up to 8 hours per shift.
• Perform general housekeeping, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas.
• Operate slicers, wrapping, and cooking equipment, maintaining all equipment in safe condition.
• Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; obtain and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
• Work in different temperature environments, such as coolers and freezers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
