Job Description
The Deli Clerk is responsible for the following essential functions:
- Rotating, stocking, and straightening merchandise and supplies.
- Correctly pricing all merchandise according to departmental guidelines.
- Proper wrapping and packaging of products, including the use of appropriate trays, plastic wrap, or containers.
- Performing housekeeping duties using available equipment (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines).
- Operating tools and equipment safely, following all safety policies and procedures.
- Cleaning deli-bakery department tools and equipment.
- Following proper procedures for producing bakery and deli products.
- Standing and walking at a rapid pace for extended periods.
- Lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Secondary Job Functions
- Maintaining a neat and clean work area.
- Performing all job functions with efficiency and accuracy.
- Working with limited supervision.
- Possibly decorating cakes.
- Receiving and unloading truck deliveries.
- Working in temperature extremes, such as frozen foods and storage coolers (-10°F).
- Ordering products in the absence of the deli manager.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
