Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Modeling and Simulation Engineer to develop physics-based models and high-fidelity six-DoF simulations using MATLAB/Simulink and C++. You will collaborate across teams from concept to integration, and communicate results to sponsors with a focus on defense systems.

Required qualifications include a technical bachelor's degree with 5 years experience, strong MATLAB/Simulink, Python and/or C++ skills, and readiness to obtain interim/secret

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 5 years of experience.
• Ability to independently develop models, run analyses, and present results.
• Experience developing physics-based models and simulations.
• Significant experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python and/or C++.
• Background in missile flight dynamics or guidance and control.
• Willing to attend onsite sponsor meetings and obtain Interim Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Connect with teams to participate in the full pipeline of system development.
• Develop and modify algorithms and physics-based models in dynamic simulations using MATLAB/Simulink and modern C++.
• Build high fidelity six-degrees-of-freedom simulations to analyze system performance.
• Collaborate across subject areas to solve multidisciplinary problems and support sponsor needs.
• Communicate technical outputs to sponsors and understand sponsor requirements on-site.
