Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Engineer to develop physics-based models and six-degree-of-freedom simulations. You will work with sponsors to understand needs and deliver robust analyses using MATLAB/Simulink and C++.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience and proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and C++. Prior missile dynamics experience is a plus, along with the ability to communicate results

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, CS, Applied Mathematics, or related field with 5 years of technical experience.
• Ability to independently develop models, run analyses, and present results to sponsors.
• Experience developing physics-based models and simulations.
• Significant experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and/or C++.
• Background in missile flight dynamics or guidance and control.
• Ability to work with program sponsors, including onsite meetings.

Responsibilities

• Develop physics-based models and six-degree-of-freedom simulations.
• Collaborate with teams to implement algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink and C++.
• Build high-fidelity simulations to analyze performance of various systems.
• Work across domains to solve multidisciplinary problems for sponsor needs.
• Communicate technical outputs to sponsors and stakeholders.
