Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Modeling & Simulation Engineer to develop and integrate software models for the Aegis Weapon System and other defense platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate models and enable flight tests for mission-critical insights.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Proficient in modern C++ and Python.
  • Proficient in using software revision control tools in a DevOps environment.
  • 2+ years of experience as a software engineer or in developing modeling and simulation tools.
  • Eligible for Interim Secret clearance by start date; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prototype algorithms for new capabilities and integrate them with simulation tools to support concept exploration and future capabilities for integrated air and missile defense systems.
  • Assist in the verification and validation of high-fidelity combat system models.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to identify suitable modeling and simulation approaches.
  • Review system requirements with internal teams and identify deficiencies.
  • Architect integrated software solutions to optimize simulation workflows and support thorough analysis.
  • Gain significant domain expertise in integrated air and missile defense systems.

Education

BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
