Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites engineers and scientists to tackle challenging technical problems in defense systems. You will contribute to the command and control of kinetic and nonkinetic weapon systems, supporting concept development, algorithm design, and system evaluation within maritime defense contexts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or related technical field.
  • Internship/research experience or similar demonstration of technical work.
  • Proficiency with C++ or Python.
  • Experience creating object-oriented software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and Top Secret clearance ultimately; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the full spectrum of engineering activities from concept and algorithm development through system evaluation and analysis, as well as tactics development.
  • Tackle challenging technical problems and create innovative software solutions for defense-related challenges.
