Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Fort Walton Beach seeks a Modeling and Simulation Engineer to develop physics-based models and high-fidelity simulations of defense systems using MATLAB/Simulink and C++. You will work with sponsors and cross-functional teams to move concepts from conception to final assessment.

This role requires a technical degree and hands-on experience with simulations, strong programming skills, and the ability to communicate results clearly for government

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or another related technical field with 5 years technical experience.
• Demonstrated ability developing physics-based models and simulations.
• Significant experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and/or C++.

Responsibilities

• Connecting with other teams to participate in the full pipeline of system development, from conception to integration.
• Contributing to and possibly leading technical teams to develop and modifying algorithms and physics-based models implemented in dynamic simulations using MATLAB/Simulink and modern C++.
• Building high fidelity, six degree-of-freedom simulations and using them to analyze the performance of a variety of systems.
• Working across subject areas to solve multidisciplinary problems and ensuring we provide our sponsors with the best solutions.
• Working directly with program sponsors to understand and communicate sponsor needs to the broader APL team and communicating technical outputs back to the sponsor
