Job summary

RTX is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our hardware team in Portsmouth, RI. You will design mechanical components for defense systems, model with parametric CAD, and produce detailed drawings for fabrication.

Travel to CONUS sites is possible; international travel is optional. The role requires a Master’s in STEM, experience with major CAD tools, and hands-on design experience through projects or teams.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in STEM discipline.
• Experience using parametric 3D CAD software to generate 3D models and drawings.
• Experience in mechanical design through coursework, projects, or teams.
• On-the-job, research, coursework, or project-based experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and document mechanical components and major end items per defense requirements.
• Create and manage parametric 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
• Validate designs via prototyping, testing, and simulations.
• Support factory operations, suppliers, and assembly efforts.
• Participate in design peer reviews and trade studies.
