Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in TEWKSBURY, MA to contribute across radar, missile, and control platforms. You will design, model, and document mechanical components with a focus on defense systems, from concept through prototyping and testing, in a collaborative, cross‑functional setting.

The role requires a Master’s degree in STEM, extensive CAD experience, and the ability to obtain an INTERIM DoD secret clearance. Onsite work is expected in a secure facility.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in STEM discipline, obtained by start date.
• Experience using parametric 3D CAD software to create 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Experience in mechanical design through coursework, projects, or teams.
• Experience may be from on‑the‑job work, research, or academic projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and document mechanical components and major end items per defense requirements.
• Generate parametric 3D CAD models, complex assembly hierarchies, and detailed 2D drawings.
• Validate design fit, form, and function via prototyping, testing, and simulations.
• Support factory operations, integration facilities, and external suppliers.
• Participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to inform decisions.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to resolve mechanical issues.
