Job summary

RTX is seeking a Radar Mechanical Design Engineer to develop solutions for a broad range of mechanism and machine design challenges supporting advanced radar systems. The role covers the full design lifecycle, onsite at Marlborough, MA, and requires U.S. citizenship and a Secret clearance.

You will design actuators, geartrains, bearings, and perform analyses while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to drive execution and meet performance, cost, and schedule targets.

Qualifications

• Typical STEM degree with at least 8 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of experience.
• Mechanical design experience for military, aerospace, or commercial applications.
• Experience in actuation drive systems and bearing configurations for precision and load capacity.
• Experience with mechanism synthesis and analysis.
• Proficiency in GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Ability to decompose tasks into discrete work packages.
• Free-body diagram generation experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical solutions for mechanism and machine design challenges.
• Design and analyze motion control actuation systems and geartrains.
• Perform kinematic and dynamic analyses of mechanisms.
• Support full mechanical design lifecycle from requirements to production.
• Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, tolerances, and documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and test teams for prototyping and verification.
• Lead mechanical development efforts for radar systems balancing performance, cost, and schedule.
• Provide technical leadership with minimal oversight.
