Job summary

KBR's Defense & Intel – Software Engineering Internship invites motivated students to contribute to meaningful, real-world projects supporting national security. You will work on data analysis, algorithm development, and GUI tools while gaining exposure to radar and sensor data in a collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Software Engineering or related fields, with strong Python or MATLAB skills, and a solid foundation in vector math and problem solving.

Qualifications

• Full-time rising junior, senior, or graduate student pursuing a degree in Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis and algorithm development.
• Solid understanding of vector math, including dot products, cross products, coordinate transformations, and geometric projections.
• Clear verbal and written communication with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a technical team.

Responsibilities

• Analyze radar, sensor, or similar system data, including preprocessing, noise removal, and feature extraction.
• Assist with simulation, modeling, or data-driven studies related to aerospace concepts.
• Develop, test, and validate algorithms that use vector math and coordinate transformations.
• Perform basic digital signal processing tasks using MATLAB or Python.
• Contribute to GUI design using MATLAB App Designer or Python UI frameworks.
• Document code, results, and methodology clearly to support team collaboration.
• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot software or algorithm issues and iterate solutions.
• Present progress in team meetings and provide written summaries of findings.
• Work both independently and as part of a small technical team, taking ownership of tasks.
