Job summary

KBR's Defense & Intel Software Engineering Internship offers hands-on experience supporting national security and advanced technology initiatives. Interns work alongside experienced professionals on real-world projects, gaining exposure to radar, sensor data processing, and algorithm development.

You will contribute to data analysis, MATLAB/Python tasks, and GUI tooling, while developing summaries for team meetings and professional growth in a dynamic environment during Summer 2027 in Orlando.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis, modeling, and basic algorithm development.
• Solid understanding of vector math, including dot products, cross products, coordinate transformations, and geometric projections.
• Strong problem-solving ability with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a technical team environment.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
• Rising junior/senior or graduate student pursuing a relevant degree (e.g., Aerospace, Mechanical, Applied Physics, Mathematics).

Responsibilities

• Support analysis of radar, sensor, or similar system data, including preprocessing, noise removal, and feature extraction.
• Assist with simulation, modeling, or data-driven studies related to aerospace or mechanical engineering concepts.
• Develop, test, and validate algorithms using vector math and coordinate transformations.
• Perform basic DSP tasks such as filtering, Fourier analysis, and time–frequency characterization.
• Contribute to GUI design or improvement for internal tools using MATLAB App Designer or Python.
• Document code, results, and methodologies clearly for team collaboration.
• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot software or algorithm issues and iterate solutions.
• Present progress in team meetings and provide written summaries of findings.
• Work independently and as part of a small team, taking ownership of tasks.
