Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking a Transport Associate to move patients and supplies within the hospital using bed, stretcher or wheelchair. The role requires responding to EPIC system notifications and ensuring safe, dignified transport for patients.

Responsibilities include completing transport requests in EPIC, transporting medications when required, assisting with patient transfers, and keeping transport equipment clean and ready.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and comprehend basic written instructions in English.
• Must also be able to comprehend verbal instructions and speak/reply in English.
• Must be 18 years of age and have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Requires contact with patients, visitors and staff, which involves good inter-personal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from patient areas and various diagnostic and treatment centers in a safe, dignified, and efficient manner using bed, stretcher or wheelchair.
• Answers pages on beeper or Rover device.
• Completes transport request steps before, during, and after transport in the EPIC system.
• Responsible for transporting medication during specific patient transports.
• Assists with transferring of patients using proper body mechanics and safe lift equipment.
• When assigned, transports supplies and materials from one department to another.
• Maintains the cleanliness of all transport equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.
• Monitors the number and placement of transport wheelchairs, stretchers and oxygen cylinders.
• Completes yearly competency form.
