Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England, is hiring an Evening Shift Transporter to move patients and supplies throughout the medical center using bed, stretcher or wheelchair.

You will document transports in the EPIC system, assist with patient transfers, and help maintain transport equipment while upholding safety and dignity.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and comprehend basic written instructions in English.
• Must also be able to comprehend verbal instructions and speak/reply in English.
• Must be 18 years of age and have high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from patient areas and diagnostic/treatment centers using bed, stretcher, or wheelchair.
• Responds to pages and beeper beeps for transport requests.
• Documents transport steps in the EPIC system.
• Transports medications during specific patient transports.
• Assists with transferring patients using proper body mechanics and lift equipment.
• Transports supplies and materials between departments as assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness of transport equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.).
• Monitors quantity and placement of transport wheelchairs, stretchers, and oxygen cylinders.
• Completes yearly competency forms.
