Qualifications

• Must read, write, and comprehend basic written instructions in English.
• Must comprehend verbal instructions and speak in English.
• Must be 18 years of age and have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Requires contact with patients, visitors and staff, which involves good inter-personal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from areas and diagnostic centers using bed, stretcher, or wheelchair.
• Answers pages on beeper or Rover device.
• Completes transport request steps in the EPIC system.
• Transports medication during specific patient transports.
• Assists with transferring patients using proper body mechanics and safe lift equipment.
• Transports supplies and materials between departments when assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness of transport equipment.
• Monitors the number and placement of transport wheelchairs, stretchers, and oxygen cylinders.
• Completes yearly competency form.
