Job summary

Indiana University Health, Inc. is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care on a full-time day shift.

You will assist with meals, hydration, walking, baths, and linen changes, while monitoring patients and reporting changes to RNs. Ideal candidates have current BLS, strong communication, and the ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and infection control best practices.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.
• Requires proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Requires ability to withstand a high level of tension and stress.
• Requires attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks amid interruptions.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks and assist with meal ordering.
• Encourage walking, assist with baths, and provide clean linens and gowns.
• Provide clinical assistance to the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts, alarms, and staying within arm's reach when moving.
