Job summary

Supabase is hiring a Database Support Engineer to help developers unblock issues and optimize usage of our Postgres-based platform. You will collaborate with engineering to improve product quality and developer experience, working in a fast-paced, async environment.

The role emphasizes diagnosing deep database problems, performance tuning, and mentoring teammates while supporting customers across multiple services. Fully remote with global teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in technical support, databases, or backend engineering.
• Deep PostgreSQL knowledge including autovacuum, WAL growth, long-running transactions.
• Strong SQL performance tuning and query optimization.
• Experience with multi-tenant schemas and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve advanced customer issues across Postgres, Auth, RLS, Storage, Realtime, Edge Functions, and client libraries.
• Provide consultative, proactive advice to optimize workloads.
• Reproduce bugs, isolate root causes, and propose workarounds.
• Ask smart questions to turn reports into actionable cases.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with users.
• Spot patterns across tickets and suggest improvements to docs, tooling, and product.
• Mentor junior team members and raise support quality.
