Supabase is seeking a Senior Postgres Engineer to join the Postgres Team and expand the stability and functionality of our hosted Postgres offering. You will work with customers, partners, product, engineering, support and success to maintain a secure, stable, and scalable Postgres foundation.

This role thrives in async, fast-paced environments and focuses on building developer tools that scale to millions. Fully remote with global team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals: planner, executor, storage engine.
• Proven experience building PostgreSQL extensions in C and Rust.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL permissions: RLS, roles, grant systems.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues in managed PostgreSQL environments.
• Comfortable reading and navigating PostgreSQL source code.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain PostgreSQL extensions in C and Rust with deep internal understanding.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in managed PostgreSQL deployments, including core dumps and bottlenecks.
• Own idempotent deployment pipelines across thousands of running PostgreSQL instances.
• Manage extension ecosystems — compatibility, upgrades, conflict resolution.
• Work with background workers, shared memory, and hooks to build scalable features.
• Collaborate with customers, product, engineering, support, and success teams.
