Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware and server software in Google's data centers. You'll handle racks, components, and networking gear, with hands-on responsibility for performance and reliability.

The role requires willingness to work non-standard hours and physically demanding tasks; you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure uptime and scale.

Qualifications

• Experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) and perform physical tasks over extended periods.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours including weekends, nights, holidays and shift-based schedules.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
• Troubleshoot equipment or infrastructure per data center procedures and resolve issues.
• Maintain data security and integrity, track media and ensure proper data erasure per security standards.
• Disassemble end-of-life equipment with team members and replace parts as needed.
• Repair and perform preventative maintenance on servers, machines, or infrastructure.
