Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware and server software in our data centers. You will work on networking components, racks, and related infrastructure, often as part of small project teams.

The role emphasizes physical installation, hands-on problem solving, and collaboration in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment. Non-standard hours and shift-based schedules are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting OS, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
  • Experience with Linux system administration.
  • Ability to lift 50 lb and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, nights and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
  • Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot straightforward issues with equipment or infrastructure.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of data, track media for standard data security issues per security standards.
  • Disassemble equipment at end-of-life in a team setting.
  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and infrastructure.
