Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware and server software in its data center environments. The role involves hands-on physical work with racks, components, and networking gear while collaborating with teams on project installations and contingency planning.

A typical day includes heavy lifting, hardware installation, and contributing to cutting-edge infrastructure initiatives that power Google's services.

Qualifications

• Experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or similar hardware.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Ability to lift/move 50 lb (23 kg) and work physically over extended periods.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, nights, holidays, and shift schedules.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
• Report issues and follow procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose straightforward issues with equipment or infrastructure.
• Maintain data security and integrity per Google standards.
• Disassemble equipment at end-of-life in a team setting and perform maintenance.
• Repair and preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, or infrastructure with defined solutions.
