Job summary

Google’s Hardware Operations team maintains the state-of-the-art infrastructure behind its search technology. As an Operations Technician, you\'ll install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain servers and components, and handle networking gear as needed.

You’ll participate in small project teams, sometimes leading them, and perform physical rack movements. This role requires lifting up to 50 lb and might include non-standard hours, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience with component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot OS, server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Ability to lift/move 50 lb (23 kg) and perform physical tasks.
• Work non-standard hours, including weekends, nights, holidays and shift-based schedules.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
• Report issues and follow procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment as issues arise.
• Maintain security and integrity of data, following Google security standards.
• Disassemble end-of-life equipment in a team setting; assist with replacements.
• Repair and preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, or infrastructure with defined solutions.
