Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team maintains state-of-the-art infrastructure behind its key search technologies. As an Operations Technician, you will install, configure, test, and troubleshoot hardware and server software, including complex components like networks, routers, hubs, and switches.

You will participate in small project teams on larger installations, with hands-on rack movements and infrastructure setups. The role emphasizes physical work in a cutting-edge data center environment.

Qualifications

• Experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting OS/server hardware or networking protocols.
• Ability to lift/move 50 lb (23 kg) of equipment and work physically over extended periods.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, nights, holidays, and shift-based schedules.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
• Report issues and follow procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose straightforward issues.
• Maintain the security and integrity of data and track media for proper erasure per security standards.
• Disassemble equipment at end-of-life and replace parts in a team setting.
• Repair and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and infrastructure with defined solutions.
