Job summary

Sundt is seeking a Project Engineer II to serve as the technical source of information on the project, with thorough knowledge of construction documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders. You will respond to questions about drawings, specs, shop drawings, and change orders, maintaining strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

The role may involve supervising Field Engineers.

Qualifications

• Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent technical training and related experience.
• Minimum of three to four years of similar construction engineering experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to supervise and train Field Engineer positions if required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of the project management plan (PMP) components and change management process.
• Develops a procurement schedule and integrates with the CPM schedule; procures material and equipment; coordinates submittals.
• Understands prime contract, subcontracts, purchase orders and allowances; budgets and controls costs within approved budget; demonstrates business acumen.
• Maintains 'As-built' contract documents; compiles close-out requirements (OMMs, warranties, etc.).
• Participates in concrete form design and related equipment selection; assists with takeoffs for concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utilities.
• Plans, acquires, develops and supervises team members to ensure relentless execution of the project.
• Prepares quantity reporting, agendas, minutes, and project logs; maintains logs.
• Prepares and reviews change orders and time extensions; manages change orders with owners/subcontractors.
• Prevents claims, identifies potential claims, quantifies, mitigates/resolve effects.

Education

Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent

3-4 years of construction engineering experience
