Job summary

Amazon Inc. is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager for AMER DCCD to lead design standard development and guide cross-functional teams through early planning, schematics, and design development.

You will provide cost, schedule, and constructability guidance for regional construction programs and serve as liaison between Real Estate and Design Engineering. The role emphasizes drive for constructability, extensive data center pre-construction experience, and effective collaboration with contractors

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience carrying new design concepts from exploration to deployment or mass production.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Word on Windows platforms.
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
• 5+ years of project management in data centers or similar critical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of critical data center equipment (generators, UPS, switchgear, etc.).
• Ability to read engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and SOPs.
• Familiarity with building codes including NFPA, NEC, OSHA.
• Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations and electrical/mechanical data center infra.
• Ability to read construction specifications and drawings across all domains.

Responsibilities

• Provide constructability guidance during design development.
• Perform constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.
• Escalate complex constructability issues to resolve during planning.
• Input into global standards and data center template designs.
• Conduct civil, structural, electrical and phasing evaluations for potential sites.
• Negotiate with general contractors and evaluate bids with attention to detail.
• Define site requirements impacting schedule, cost, and integration with surroundings.
• Create GC scope and RFPs; manage GC during preconstruction.
• Review bid summaries, schedules, labor pricing, and subcontractor evaluations.
