Job summary

QTS Data Centers in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks a Critical Operations Technician I to install, repair and maintain IT, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. The role supports a 24/7 data center environment, handling customer equipment installs, tickets, alerts, and coordination with engineers on site.

The position requires on-site work, strong technical background, and the ability to work with diverse teams.

Qualifications

Two or more years of technical training, military training, or workplace equivalency.
Background in IT, electrical, and/or mechanical.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Applies learning, knowledge, skills, and policies to IT, electrical, and mechanical equipment and systems.
Leads and performs preventive maintenance on mechanical/electrical equipment and records readings.
Provide remote hands and eyes services for customers.
Install and configure IT hardware according to documentation and procedures.
Install and repair IT, mechanical, and electrical equipment and assist in major repairs.
Process work orders for preventive and corrective maintenance with supervision.
Create/update tickets for customer calls, facility, network, or system alerts.
Operate and monitor critical and non-critical system equipment for safe operation.
Respond to building emergencies and customer requests.
Follow Change Management to approve and document maintenance.
