Job summary

QTS Data Centers in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Critical Operations Technician I to maintain electrical, mechanical, HVAC and IT equipment in our on-site data centers.

You will monitor building systems, perform preventive maintenance, support operations 24x7x365, and assist customers on the data center floor. The role requires on-site work and a collaborative, safety‑driven mindset.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of technical or trade training.
• Background in facilities maintenance, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or IT hardware.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Preferred experience in data center, commercial, or industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and IT equipment.
• Install and repair IT, mechanical, and electrical equipment and assist with major repairs.
• Provide hardware and software configuration support and install data center infrastructure.
• Process work orders and update tickets in the ticketing system.
• Respond to building emergencies and customer requests.
• Follow Change Management processes and proper documentation.
