Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology seeks a Data Center Manager for a federal client within its Infrastructure team. The role blends IT operations leadership with enterprise-scale data center management, including mainframe and distributed environments, virtualization, and storage optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience managing server and support services, including 3+ years in an IT outsourcing environment.
• ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation Certified
• Excellent analytical, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Project management experience is a plus
• U.S. Citizenship and background investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background
• This position is onsite in Washington DC 8-5 M-F; after hours, weekends and holidays support may be needed

Responsibilities

• Demonstrated experience managing Data Center Operations similar in size, complexity, dynamics, availability and scope to that of the contract.
• Demonstrated experience managing mainframe and server security, disaster recovery failover, business continuity, and batch job scheduling in mainframe and distributed (Windows and UNIX) environments.
• Managing large, complex server environments containing over 2,000 physical servers hosting over 15,000 physical or virtual servers.
• Planning and executing server consolidation and virtualization on Windows, Solaris, and Red Hat Linux in production.
• Managing enterprise storage across server technologies with best practices, migrations and optimizations.
• Implementing ITIL standards and processes in a large, highly available data center.
• Managing a 7x24x365 Data center that monitors a national service and handles faults proactively and reactively.
• Experience with IBM Z10 mainframe with z/OS.
• Translating between business requirements and technical implementation.
• Systems engineering in a large, complex infrastructure.
