Job summary

Jacobs seeks a Mechanical Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead for a Corpus Christi, TX data center project. You will lead mechanical construction activities, interpret complex drawings, and coordinate with home office engineering, subcontractors, and AHJs to ensure design compliance and field execution.

You will mentor teammates, manage document control, and drive successful project delivery in a rapidly growing sector. Hybrid working model applies as projects allow.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Mechanical engineering or 15–20 years in construction management for heavy-industrial facilities including life sciences and datacenters.
• Understanding of construction means, methods, codes and standards.
• Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, including certified technical training.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to read and understand Mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in resolving in-progress issues and clarifying responses from home office/engineer to meet project needs.
• Liaise with home office engineering, outside firms, and client representatives.
• Provide on-site technical support interpreting engineering documents, specs, and drawings; input to change management.
• Engage in permitting processes with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
• Work with Design-Build contractors as field work progresses.
• Communicate with subcontractors to manage drawings and documents in revision-controlled manner.
• Lead the construction document management process and supervise a document control lead.
• Oversee and guide teams to respond to specification deviations during work.
• Collaborate with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering to resolve NCRs.
