Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Mechanical Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead for a Corpus Christi, TX data center project. The role focuses on leading technical interpretation of drawings, coordinating with home office and client reps, and providing on-site support across design-build phases.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in mechanical engineering or 15–20 years in construction management for heavy-industrial facilities including life sciences and data centers.
• Understanding of construction-oriented means, methods, codes and standards.
• Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, including certified technical training.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance in resolving in-progress issues, discrepancies, or disputes related to technical interpretation of drawings and specifications; clarifying and expediting responses to meet project needs.
• Liaise with home office engineering, outside engineering firms, and client representatives.
• Provide on-site technical support in interpretation of released documents, specifications, and drawings; input to change management process.
• Engage in the permitting process and with AHJs.
• Work with Design-Build contractors as they move to the field.
• Communicate with subcontractors to manage all key drawings and documents in revision control.
• Lead the construction document management process; oversee a construction document control lead.
• Ensure effective communication with subcontractors to manage all key drawings and documents in revision control.
• Act as technically competent lead in response to specification deviation requests.
• Work with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering to resolve NCRs.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the team toward objectives.
