Job summary

Johnson Controls in the United States is seeking a Project Manager to lead large, multi-million-dollar data center construction projects. This role operates remotely within the U.S.

but requires travel to customer sites as project demands, potentially up to 50% of the time. You will partner with sales, installation, and project teams to strategize, assess risks, and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and within contract scope, while maintaining positive cash flow and safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or equivalent work-related experience.
• Eight+ years direct project management experience in building construction, preferably in data centers.
• Experience managing mechanical retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS, fire and security systems in data centers.
• Commitment to PMI/PMP certification within two years of employment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency with project management and financial accounting software, including MS Office, Adobe Writer, and Visio.
• Willingness to travel ~10% or more per project, including outside geography when needed.
• Ability to manage complex projects with multiple subcontractors and scopes of work.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary on-site leader for execution teams and develop/manage project schedules.
• Evaluate scopes of work and manage client bulletins or changes, pursuing additional revenue via change orders.
• Manage costs, billings, and collections to maintain profitability and positive cash flow.
• Communicate project progress and financial status to management using project controls tools.
• Ensure document controls meet contract requirements and installation standards.
• Maintain long-term relationships with stakeholders and coordinate project meetings and training.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for resource allocation, engineering, and commissioning.
• Foster safety, accountability, and integrity across staff and subcontractors.
