Job summary

Black Hills Energy, based in Rapid City, SD, seeks a Data Center Development Representative to identify and advance data center opportunities, build internal partnerships, and support market research and business cases to position the utility as a preferred partner.

You will work with regulatory, finance, engineering, operations, and legal teams to develop opportunities, prepare materials, and track milestones for leadership review.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or related field.
• Travel up to 10% of the time.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in business development or a related role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to prepare professional materials.
• Ability to coordinate market research and build actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop data center opportunities within targeted markets.
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions.
• Prepare proposals, contracts, reports, and presentations for senior management.
• Assist in customer meetings and coordinate follow-up activities.
• Collaborate with regulatory, finance, engineering, operations and legal teams.
• Support business analyses and tracking of milestones and leadership updates.
• Maintain relationships with prospective customers and industry partners.
• Represent the company at industry events and meetings.
