Black Hills Energy in Rapid City, SD; Cheyenne, WY; or Denver, CO seeks a Director of Data Center Development to grow the utility's data center client base while managing partnerships and initiatives across the organization.

You will lead strategic growth plans, build relationships with hyperscalers and regulators, and align cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, compliant solutions in a dynamic market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years in energy sector related to business development, finance, account management, project management, strategic planning, or commercial growth.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience.
• Minimum of 2 years in data center development preferred.
• Strong understanding of data center industry and utility services.
• Executive presence to engage senior executives, regulators and key stakeholders.
• Ability to develop and execute strategic growth initiatives and manage complex projects.
• Strong business and financial acumen for evaluating opportunities and negotiating.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Identify and target potential data center customers and develop growth strategies.
• Lead negotiations to secure data center agreements and partnerships.
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders including regulators and industry partners.
• Coordinate across regulatory, engineering, finance, legal, and operations teams.
• Monitor market trends to identify opportunities and stay ahead of developments.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations and manage risks.
• Represent the company in data center relationships with partners and communities.
• Prepare reports, proposals, and updates for executive management.
• Provide strategic guidance to business units throughout project lifecycles.
