Job summary

Black Hills Energy seeks a Director of Data Center Development to drive growth by identifying data center clients and managing existing partnerships. The role focuses on strategic partnerships, client needs, and promoting utility services to support data center expansion.

Experience with hyperscalers, colocation providers, and data center operators is preferred. The role reports to the VP of Strategic Growth, involves up to 25% travel, and requires a driving license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Minimum 10 years in energy sector with business development, finance, account management, project management, strategic planning or commercial growth.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience.
• 2 years in data center development preferred.
• Strong understanding of data center industry and utility services.

Responsibilities

• Identify and target potential data center customers and develop growth strategies.
• Lead negotiations to secure agreements and partnerships with data center clients.
• Develop and maintain relationships with data center operators, partners and regulators.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with regulatory, engineering, finance, legal and operations teams.
• Monitor market trends to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.
