Job summary

Capital Electric, part of the Sonepar group, seeks a proactive Data Center Business Development Manager to own the data center vertical in the assigned territory. This hunter role focuses on early-stage project intelligence, relationship mapping, and positioning Capital Electric as the preferred electrical distributor for data center owners, developers, and operators.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of B2B sales or business development in electrical distribution, data centers or related construction verticals.
• Proven track record of hunting new business and building relationships at the C-suite and procurement level with hyperscale/colocation owners preferred.
• Existing network within the data center ecosystem in the target geography is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of data center power infrastructure and design/build process.
• Experience using project intelligence platforms and CRM (SPARK).
• Self-starter with remote work capability and 30–50% travel in territory.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required with relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify and map data center projects in the assigned territory.
• Collaborate with executive and regional leadership to identify opportunities and guide sales and service requirements.
• Build and maintain a real-time project pipeline (owner/developer, MEP, timelines).
• Develop relationships with data center end-users, procurement teams, and engineering firms.
• Position Capital Electric early in the design/spec phase through education and collaboration.
• Coordinate with local branches to drive market share and sales growth.
• Attend key industry events to expand network and intelligence.
