Job summary

Capital Electric, part of the Sonepar family, seeks a proactive Business Development Manager - Data Center to own the data center vertical within the assigned territory. This hunter-style role focuses on identifying 12–36 month projects, mapping relationships, and positioning Capital Electric as the preferred distributor for end-users and design/build teams.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of B2B sales or business development in electrical distribution, data centers, or related construction verticals.
• Proven track record of hunting new business and engaging at C-suite/procurement level with hyperscale/colocation owners.
• Existing network within the data center ecosystem in the target geography is a significant advantage.
• Strong understanding of data center power infrastructure and design/build processes.
• Experience with project intelligence platforms and CRM systems.
• Willingness to travel 30-50% within the United States and work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Identify, track, and map data center projects 12–36 months before bid.
• Build and manage real-time project pipeline with owner, GC, MEP, and engineer details.
• Develop relationships with end-users, procurement teams, and engineering firms.
• Position Capital Electric early in design/specification through collaboration and distributor programs.
• Coordinate with regional leadership and branches to execute on opportunities.
